Making Mistakes, Learning, Growing - Thankful in the Process
I first want to start off by saying how thankful I am for the turnout and love for the print release of “SALVATION”. I was blown away with the response and I honestly didn’t realize how many of you really wanted that print. There were purchases within seconds of launching and I was completely humbled.
My kids and my wife were right there as the orders started coming in and it was a cool moment for us to share in that. They were able to help in packing up orders and getting these out to all of you sooner than I actually anticipated.
So excited for you to receive these!
Learning and growing
You see I had quite a few moments of learning in the process of this. I learned that my limited understanding of things doesn’t make it reality. I didn’t have any expectations for this print release honestly going in but after the dust settled, I couldn’t believe the turnout.
From that newfound understanding all I felt was gratitude. I wanted to do more. You see Vandermissen Fine Art is Fine Art, but me? I am as grass roots down to earth as it gets. So, if this business is me what does that say about how I should operate in this? I don’t want to be a snobby unapproachable Creator. I want my business to reflect me. Even with all the imperfections.
Changes
I am pivoting to make myself more available and work hard to strive for people of all walks of life to have my work. I didn’t realize the impact and that’s what you get for thinking too small.
I originally set my work up so that I could keep all my faith-based Originals and have a body of work to hold onto late into my life as family Heirlooms, but like I said in the process of this I thought to myself what are you doing? This is going against who you are?
So, I am making these available for the first time and giving everyone a chance to own something that might inspire them or share with their own family. I realized this isn’t about me.
I have already added a few originals and will continue to add more to my website. Faith / Christian and Western / Outdoors
I am also making myself openly available to commissions for the first time publicly. I have 3 in the hopper right now that I am currently working on, and one is actually being shipped out today, but if you have something in mind that you want me to bring life just reach out and we can start a conversation on your vision.
Yeah, I am doing the work and sharing myself, but what am I teaching my children? Keep everything to yourself? So, for the first time ever I am making these pieces available, and you are the first to know this. Some of you have already purchased a few and I am honored by that.
The confirmation for me was hearing those responses when they received these originals.
When people tell you that they cried when they opened the package or felt such love and peace from something I created? Yeah, it definitely shifts your mindset.
God is so much bigger than what I am thinking or doing so if I am in pursuit of leading people to him how should I operate?
Let me be clear that I cannot contain God to a painting on a canvas or depict Jesus as he actually is, but I can be a vessel or a steppingstone for you to say
“Wow, there is something more to this what is this guy trying to say?”
We don’t realize the impact by just planting seeds and that is what my Art is.
I learned this through my own kids. You don’t realize how much they see and watch. After the release and on Father’s Day my two kids painted me pictures as gifts. They even did the canvas flip as seen on Instagram. Which is absolutely hilarious. They did this on their own, but it was a learning lesson for me in how so many are watching and learning. They have a givers heart and that is everything to me. Through them and their generous hearts I learned something profound.
My 5 and 7 year old Father’s Day gifts
Yes, I have to sell my work to provide and support my family, but it is more of an intention. Your heart is key in this. I want to provide you with that experience.
So, I will continue to listen to all of you

REDEEMER!!!!!!!
This one was quite clear as REDEEMER took 60% of the vote.
your comments were so meaningful and heartfelt also. Thank you!
My favorite one was
“I can almost feel myself beside him.”
I will be announcing a release date for this print in the near future. The exciting news is that I will also be offering smaller sizes of this print.
“REDEEMER”
Was painted within the theme of the resurrection. I wanted to do something different. This is depicting that early morning that would forever change the course of history. I wanted you to feel the quietness and peace from that moment as Jesus walks to reveal himself risen to his disciples and others. The sun is rising just as Christ himself is rising.
No one knows yet what awaits them when they come face to face with their King who was on a cross the last time they saw him.
For those who didn’t pick up on it I depicted him standing in the exact spot from “SALVATION” of where the cross was.
I am excited to make this available to all of you and I might do this release a little different.
Stay Tuned and Thank you!
There are still a few Limited Editon prints of “SALVATION” available and remember I won’t be making that 30 × 40 size ever again.
you also receive a free Limited-Edition print of your choosing when you purchase a framed "SALVATION" 30 X 40 COLLECTOR'S EDITION (LIMITED EDITION / 25)
I have been doing canvas limited edition prints for those collectors.
Most of all thank you again for all your support!
Mathew 5: 13-16
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
